I attended the meeting Monday night, and the facilitators of the meeting kept referring to a woman named "Barb" who could help with several things. I wasn't able to get her last name or contact info. I'm seeking her help for my 1st grade daughter who most likely won't be able to go to Elements but is way ahead of her classmates and is bored. Can you send me her information and/or any other resources that might help us for this situation? I think they also mentioned something called Destination Imagination. Not sure what that is, but I'd like to know more. Thanks, in advance, for your help with this. Thanks again.

Hello -- I was unable to attend this meeting. Please include me on future mailings and activities. Also, if there are any notes/handouts, I would appreciate receiving a copy. Thank you.

I will also be there with information on Mensa. One of the new benefits for Mensa members under age 18 is deeply discounted access to EPGY coursework, which may be of interest to MCGT folks.

The Works will be providing a fun activity for the kids to do at the Resource Fair at their information table. But, they are not providing any other type of programming for kids. They will only be at the Edina Communtiy Center during the hours of the resource fair, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Important note: The Works table is not intended to be childcare for adults attending the workshops – a parent must be in the Resource Fair room(s) and parents are responsible for their children during the entire duration of the Resource Fair and Workshops.

Could we get some more information on the activities for kids? I want to know if I should bring them or have them go somewhere else. What ages are able to participate? I want to be able to go listen to the speakers and not worry about my kids.

Here is a sample of the vendors registered to participate:
The Loft Literary Center
Invent Now
Cyprus Schools
Marbles: The Brainstore
The Bakken Museum
Secondary Science Education
Leonardo\'s Basement
Friedrichs Education
Usborne Books and More
Intermediate District 287
ISD 199, Inver Grove Heights Community Schools
MCGT Booktable

The resource fair typically lets you see and discuss educational materials and resources for all gifted learners from toddlers to adults. There will be displays of gifted education resources from many sources, with vendors and parents at the fair to discuss the resources with you. Teachers can find helpful materials for their classes at the fair, parents can find supplements for "afterschooling" or materials for full-time homeschooling, and children and adults of all ages can find fun toys and gifts.

Parents and educators are invited to come and learn more about the materials
and programs available to gifted students including:
* Curricula and other materials parents have used with their gifted children for homeschooling, supplemental after-schooling, or as replacement curricula for school-based independent study.

* Information about distance learning programs for gifted students.

* Information about local and national organizations for families of gifted children.

Attendees will be able to ask parents of gifted children questions about the many resources currently being used and examine many of those materials first hand. Books on gifted children and gifted education may also be purchased during theresource fair at the MCGT book table. Additionally, local vendors of educational products will have many materials for sale.

The MCGT Gifted Education Resource Fair began in 2005 as a way for parents of gifted children to share their knowledge with other families and to spread the word to parents and teachers about the best programs and materials for gifted children.
