Our last meeting of the school year will be on Tuesday April 24 at 7pm in the WestWood Media Center. Our focus will be summer opportunities for gifted kids.
We were glad to see families turn out for our first social event “The Amazing Race!” Forty families spent the evening playing games, solving puzzles, and meeting old and new friends. Thanks to Rachel and Trudy for organizing the evening and to Marbles the Brain Store and Games by James for donating door prizes. Photos from the event will be posted on our photos page this week.
Thanks also to parents and staff who attended our February meeting. School superintendent Sue Ann Gruver and curriculum director Jeff Holmberg presented information about advanced programs and plans and answered parent questions. Information is in the meeting minutes.
SPAN (Synergy/SAGE Parent Action Network) will have our next meeting on Th. Feb. 23 at 7pm in the WestWood Media Center; Superintendent Sue Ann Gruver and Curriculum Director Jeff Holmberg will be in attendance to discuss how the district is meeting the needs of gifted students at all levels in the district.
We are excited to be sponsoring a social event titled “The Amazing Race” for Synergy/SAGE students and their families at 6:30pm on Friday Feb. 24 at the high school. We would appreciate RSVP’s for families and high-school-student volunteers so that we can plan accordingly. Please RSVP here.

SPAN (Synergy/SAGE Parent Action Network) will have its next meeting on January 31 at 7pm in the WestWood Media Center. Please note that we have switched plans for our January and February meetings. On January 31, we will have high school principal Dave Lund and high school Synergy specialist Jared Daggit in attendance to talk about gifted education at the high school level. Superintendent Sue Ann Gruver and Curriculum Director Jeff Holmberg will attend our February 23 meeting. Also, exciting plans are in the works for a social gathering for Synergy students and their families at the end of February; watch for more details!

The next SPAN meeting will be held on 11/29/11 at 7pm in the WestWood Media Center. The focus of our meeting will be on middle school advanced programming and how it is meeting the needs of advanced learners. This will be an excellent opportunity to hear directly from the middle school principals and teachers, as well as a time to ask any questions you may have.
