2013 MCGT Gifted Education Resource Fair

BooksThe Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT) and the MCGT Homeschoolers Chapter will host the annual MCGT Gifted Education Resource Fair on Saturday 2 March 2013 from 9:00am to 1:00pm in Rooms 350 and 351 of the Edina Community Center, 5701 Normandale Road, Edina, MN 55424

The MCGT Gifted Education Resource Fair began in 2005 as a way for parents of  gifted children to share their knowledge with other families and to spread the word to parents and teachers about the best programs and materials for gifted children. The resource fair lets you see and discuss educational materials and resources for all gifted learners from toddlers to adults. There will be displays of gifted education resources from many sources, with vendors and parents at the fair to discuss the resources with you. Teachers can find helpful materials for their classes at the fair, parents can find supplements for “afterschooling” or materials for full-time homeschooling, and children and adults of all ages can find fun toys and gifts.

Parents and educators are invited to come and learn more about the materials and programs available to gifted students including:

* Curricula and other materials parents have used with their gifted children for homeschooling, supplemental after-schooling, or as replacement curricula for school-based independent study.

* Fun books, toys, and gifts for children and adults of all ages.
* Information about distance learning programs for gifted students.
* Information about local and national organizations for families of gifted children.
Attendees will be able to ask parents of gifted children questions about the many resources currently being used and examine many of those materials first hand. Books on gifted children and gifted education may also be purchased during the resource fair at the MCGT book table. Additionally, local vendors of educational products will have many materials for sale.

We are also having a used book sale at the fair – homeschool curriculum, books on raising the gifted as well as literature for young and old.

Admission is $5 per family for MCGT members and $10 per family for non-members, with an opportunity to join MCGT at the door to receive the discounted admission price.

Please plan on attending this annual event, and feel free to invite your friends.
