2019 MCGT Conference Children’s Program

MCGT Conference Children’s Program: Open only to children of registered adults who attend the conference. Kids in kindergarten through 7th grade must pre-register. They will choose a morning and an afternoon class led by experienced teachers. There are no facilities for children younger than kindergarten. The children’s program fills up quickly. Early registration is encouraged. Older kids may register to attend adult sessions or sign up to be volunteers in various areas of the conference (including assisting teachers in one of the kids’ classes or helping set up and clean up).

Lunch: Parents and children will eat together in the school’s cafeteria. Please mark lunch choices on the conference registration form. Please note any allergies/dietary restrictions on the registration form.

Book Swap for Kids (And Adults!):  Bring your used, good condition, children’s and adolescent books to swap for something your kids haven‘t read. (No textbooks or preschool books, please). Adults, you can bring a book too! It‘s easy to do. After you check in at the registration table on the morning of the conference, go to the Book Swap table and exchange the books you brought for coupons which will allow you to select an equal number of different books. (If you like garage sales or the used book sales that libraries conduct, you may find suitable books to purchase to bring for the MCGT Conference Book Swap.) Return to the Book Swap room in the afternoon and redeem the coupons for books your fellow conference attendees turned in that morning. We hope this service will bring kids and adults together over similar tastes in literature. Maybe you will even leave with satisfied readers – at least for a week or two!!!
