Mark your calendars for Sunday 21 July 2013 from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm. That’s the date for the eighth annual MCGT summer picnic. We look forward to seeing you and your friends there. We will be at the Jensen Lake Shelter at Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan, Minnesota. The Jensen Lake Shelter includes electricity, drinking fountain, picnic tables and serving counters, charcoal grills, children’s playground, a small area for volleyball or other yard games, and restrooms. The Jensen Lake Trailhead near the shelter provides access to 14 miles of hiking trails.

Families who have come to the picnic the last seven years have enjoyed the company, the activities, and the food. It’s a great way to see old friends and make new ones.
As has been the case in the past, MCGT will provide burgers (meat and veggie), hot dogs, buns, condiments, and disposable plates and utensils. We ask families to bring a salad, munchies, or dessert to share, as well as their own beverages. It can be convenient to bring along some lawn chairs or sports spectator chairs too, although there is seating under the pavilion.
We are planning to have some activities to engage the kids, but the planners are not responsible for the behavior of children other than our own. Activities planned include gentle, family-friendly games, with opportunities for volleyball, geocaching, bocce ball and lots more. This event is a family event, and parents are expected to supervise their children during the picnic. This information is included because of past inquiries about whether parents needed to keep tabs on their kids—yes, parents should be aware of what their children are doing and provide adult guidance as needed.
Updates regarding the picnic will appear here and on our MCGTdotnet Yahoo Group email list. Please be sure to respond to the online R.S.V.P. linked here as early as possible to assist us in planning (especially the amount of food and picnic supplies we’ll supply).
Include numbers of adults and children coming, the age(s) of the child(ren), and whether you plan to bring a salad, munchies, or a dessert. We will again ask for a nominal donation to defray expenses, as we did last year: $1 per person, with a $5 maximum per family. There is also an opportunity on the R.S.V.P. form to offer help in making this event happen.
