CHOICES Chapter Online Chats

Parent Chats: Second Monday of the month (7:30 – 9pm) and Fourth Thursday of the month (6:30 – 8pm)

We have a new schedule for parent chats and a potential schedule for kid chats.  Please reach out to our chapter at [email protected] if you see unmet needs in our MCGT community that you think we can help fill.

One thing our chapter has done well at our monthly meetings for years, and has successfully translated to a virtual platform these past few months, is to host casual discussions for parents raising and educating these uniquely-gifted kids.

For the rest of the school year, we will be hosting two evening drop-in chats each month for parents to exchange resources and support.  They are open to all current and potential MCGT families regardless of where their kids get their education.  Hosted by veteran homeschooling parents, we’ll talk about whatever is on your mind: family rhythm in these changing times, homeschooling, schooling at home, our needs, our kids’ needs, and more.

Second Monday of the Month, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Monday, April 13
  • Monday, May 11

Fourth Thursday of the month, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

While there was a bit of a learning curve for both the adult moderators and the kid participants, we’ve received feedback that the lightly-structured Friday afternoon chats were appreciated by kids who weren’t already overbooked with online classes and visits with friends.  The age groupings of 5-8, 8-11, and 11-14 seemed to work well. We would like to continue to offer these Friday Kid Chats through April and May (with a pause to regroup this Friday, April 10), but need some parents to share the moderating.  If you would be willing to moderate an age group every week or every other week, please reach out to us at [email protected] by Monday, April 13.  Moderators can choose the topic or activity (trivia, show and tell, game, free chat) that they find interesting, and our chapter will take care of the Zoom setup and communication.   Thanks to everyone for all you do.
