CHOICES Quarterly Chapter Meeting

Monday

Please join us Monday, November 18 at 7:00 in the Edina Community Center, Room 348 (Professional Library) for the November Quarterly Meeting of the MCGT CHOICES Chapter!

Are you curating the education of your gifted kids? Are you homeschooling kids who may be gifted? You are welcome to join the quarterly meeting of the MCGT CHOICES Chapter. We have a theme to open each quarter’s discussion, and the conversation usually flows organically to whatever type of support the attending families need.

November theme: Gratitude – What resources (people, programs, and products) have helped your family along the way?

The general meeting and discussion begins at 7:00. From 6:00-7:00, the curriculum library will be open for guests to browse and chat while the board holds the monthly administrative meeting in a separate room.

If the only way for you to attend is to bring your children and a quiet activity, please come. However, know that we are privileged to have parents often share emotional stories and reveal private details about their children’s challenges as they seek support. This is usually more comfortable without young ears in the room. We do offer other events better suited to the whole family.

The MGCT CHOICES Chapter has changed the rhythm of how we gather. One thing we’ve done is to separate out the monthly board meeting from the gathering of member families. All board meetings, whether virtual or in-person, will still be open to all current and potential members, but people won’t have to sit through the ‘sausage being made’ before the general meeting as administrative work is slogged through.

We will now have quarterly general meetings at the Edina Community Center (February, May, August, and November) with a board meeting followed by a general gathering. The chapter library will be open during the board meeting – with a veteran parent available to answer questions – for those who wish to arrive early to browse or chat. Then the general gathering will open with a brief chapter-wide meeting for announcements and any needed voting before moving on to the night’s topic.

The board will meet online the other eight months of the year. Meetings will be held the third Monday of the month, except February’s meeting will be the Tuesday after the third Monday due to federal holiday.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
