Back to homepageBloomington Public School District is sponsoring a SENG group. Rather than a ten-week commitment, BPS is offering five separate blocks of three sessions each. These will be spread out over the school year, and are organized by topic. Kathy Geary and I are facilitating the discussions.

September 22nd– Chapter 1 — Defining Giftedness (With a 10 minute intro from Dr. Cash.)
September 29th– Chapter 2 – Characteristics of Gifted Children
October 6th– Chapter 3 – Communication: The Key to Relationships

November 17th– Chapter 5 – Establishing Discipline and Teaching Self-Management

January 12 – Chapters 6 & 7 – Intensity
January 19th – Chapters 6 & 7 – Perfectionism & Idealism
January 26th – Chapter 6 & 7 – Stress, Unhappiness, and Depression

Discussion Series #4 – The social side — (register by 3-8-2012)
March 15th – Chapter 8 – Acquaintances, Friends, and Peers
March 22nd – Chapter 9 – Family Relationships: Siblings and Only Children
March 29th – Chapter 10 – Values, Traditions, and Uniqueness

Discussion Series #5 – Advocacy issues — (register by 4-5-2012)
April 12th – Chapter 11 – Complexities of Successful Parenting
April 19th – Chapter 12 — Children Who are Twice-Exceptional
April 26th – Chapter 13 — Finding a Good Educational Fit (focus on advocacy skills)

Registration is open to everyone—not just Bloomington families. Families can register and pay for one block, all five, or any combination in-between. Space is limited. Free childcare is available with pre-registration.
